Niche Marketing Definition

In niche marketing, an Internet marketer seeks a keyword phrase or a group of related keyword phrases for which there are a moderate number of searches each month and a relatively low level of competition for clicks to a website.
This is the basic niche marketing definition.
So, it is comprised of three parts:
Typically, you want to find at least 1000 searches per month on Google.
Now, the tricky part of the “niche marketing definition.” Just how do you define competition and what is a low level of competition?
Defining Competition
For our definition, we'll say that competition is high when a number of webmaster use both on page optimization and off page optimization to target our keyword phrases.
So, it's important to look at a few criteria of optimization to see just how competitive the sites that appear on
Google's first search results page are for each keyword phrase are.
So, let's look at a few characteristics of on page optimization.
The first factor to determine is whether the page or the site has the keyword phrase in their title tag. The words in the title tag appear at the top of your browser when you click to a page. You can also view the source of the page to see the content of the title tag.
This is the easiest thing for a webmaster to do to a page they went to rank well for a keyword phrase. So the absence of the keyword phrase in the title tag is a good indication of low competition.
Another quick indicator is the presence of the keyword phrase in the URL of the website, or at least in the name of the page. If the keyword phrase does not appear in either the site's URL or the page name, then the competition level is probably very low.
Finally, we need to look at an off page optimization technique. And for off page optimization we'll look at the anchor text or link text used by other sites to link to the websites on the first page of Google's search results.

If these sites do not use the targeted keyword phrase to link to the site in Google, that is another indication of low levels of competition.
What we're saying is that competitive webmasters place the keyword phrase in their site's title tag, in their site's URL or page name, and encourage other sites to link to their sites with the keyword phrase.
So, you should be looking for keyword phrases where the webmasters don't do these things.
When you find a keyword phrase that meets these criteria, you've found a good niche.
So, again, according to our definition, you're looking for keyword phrases that have moderate traffic but relatively low competition.
Find Products to Sell
Finally, you want to determine if there are products you can sell. This is pretty easy. By checking Clickbank, Amazon, or other affiliate programs, you can usually find a few products that will work well for just about any niche.
With this definition, I wish you well in finding a winning niche.
